Big Boy

It has happened and it is great! We can now officially say, Mason is POTTY TRAINED! YAY! He wore underwear all last week to daycare, and did not have any accidents. I think he even surprised his teachers. I was a little shocked myself. He's been doing really good at home for the past 2-3 months wearing underwear and going to the potty, but I thought for sure he would probably have an accident at daycare at least on the first day. He still has to squat on the potty to poo poo, but at least he waits till he gets home to do that. He is so proud to wear his BIG BOY UNDERWEAR! His reward is getting to watch his Mickey Mouse movies. After going #2 in the potty, he yells, "Now I get to watch Mickey Mouse!" before he even gets off the commode.

YAY for Mason!

After church this afternoon, we came home and Mason said, "I need to poo poo." Usually we just take off the under wear and put on a pull up. But we talked him into trying to use the potty. I took our portable DVD player that we just got on Black Friday and put Toy Story in it. He agreed to watch the movie while sitting on the potty. We check on him every couple of minutes, him telling us he's OK. Then he tells me, "Mommy I can't poo poo." I said, "Mason just take your time, we're in no hurry!" So, I go back in a couple more minutes and decide to try something different. See, he likes to squat when he poops, so I helped him get his feet on the toilet seat and squat. Within in a few seconds he yelled,"Momma come here!!" I ran in the bathroom to hear him say, "I did it!" Sure enough he had. Even though he didn't sit the correct way, he still poo pooed in the potty. He just has to squat to do his business. LOL. Now, we have to get a Mickey Mouse. That's what we promised him if he would do #2 in the potty. He's so excited to go pick out a movie. Hopefully he's on the road to being fully potty trained. He wears under wear all the time except for daycare and when he has to poo poo. He goes and pees all by himself at home and daycare. He's been doing that for about 3 months now. Yay Mason!!

Potty Training

"I peepee on the porch."

"Big Boy Underwear!"

We are no longer using the musical potty (it's now a stool), we are using the "BiG PottY!"

Mason has been wearing his underwear a lot for the past week and a half. He's doing really good, with the exception of a few accidents. We've went out to eat, church, and just around town, while he's wearing his underwear. Sometimes I'll ask him if he has to go and he'll say, yes, and sometimes he'll tell us if he has to go potty. I've also gotten some pull-ups, so if we know we are going to spend a lot of time in town, he can still use the potty easy, but if he has an accident, it's okay. Potty training is a challenge, but we are trying to be consistent and not be to pushy. At daycare he has moved up another class, so we're not really pushing any potty training while he's there since he's getting use to two new teachers and new kids, even though he already knows some of them from being in his class previously. Hopefully, he'll catch at daycare too, but for now we'll work on potty training at home. Boy, would it be awesome if he could be completely trained by the time this baby gets here? Keep your fingers crossed!!

Finally, A Hair Cut

Mason did beyond excellent for his first haircut. He never whined or flinched the whole time. I was really surprised, I didn't really know what he might do.

Mason was more worried about where his hands went, he didn't even care she was cutting his hair.

No more curls. Sad. He looks like a little boy now.

I got a hair cut before Mason and Phil got one after. We all walked out with a new do.

Another first for Mason, he pee peed in his potty, twice this past week. I was so surprised the first time he did it. The potty played music when he did his business, so cute. I hope he continues to use the potty off and on. We're not being pushy about the potty right now, it's just if he wants to sit on it he can, if not that's fine.

Movin' Up

We saw my friend Brooke for a short time on Saturday. She had brought Mason a shirt she purchased while in England. It fits him perfect. (Her husband Andy is from England.)

Yes, we have gotten a potty chair. Mason actually likes sitting on it, but he will not pee in it, yet. We're trying to remember to encourage him to use it when he gets up in the morning and before he takes a bath. If he ever does pee in it, the music will play.

Mason and Phil enjoying some story time, Sunday night.

Mason has been moved up to the 2 year old class this week. Even though he's not yet 2, the daycare director says he's at their maturity level and size. About two months ago, 6 kids from his class moved up because they all turned 2, and some of the babies who turned 1, moved up to Mason's class. This left him and one other little boy to be the only ones walking and talking. The director thought it would be best for Mason and the other boy to move up to the 2 year old class, so they can move forward with their learning. I thought it was a great idea. Mason already knows most of the kids in the class anyway, so he fits right in. They are learning body parts and colors. He should do well with the body parts, but he's still trying to catch on to the colors.
