New Stuff

Mason has been sleeping in his toddler bed for about a month and a week now. We actually had to put the bed in the living room, since the back room was still not cleaned out and we can not get the baby bed out of his room unless we take it apart. The first 3 nights he woke up in the middle of the night and crawled into bed with us. I'm not a big fan of him sleeping in our bed, but we just did this for the first 3 nights, then the next two or three nights that he woke up, we would put him back in his bed and lay down in the floor beside the bed. He would go back to sleep in about 15 minutes or less. Since that first week he's slept all night every night. Until this past weekend, when we finally got the back room(junk room) cleaned out and everything put in the storage building. So, now Mason's bed is in his NEW room. So, again the first few nights he's woken up and crawled into bed with us again. I'm hoping this weekend if he wakes up, we will take him back to his bed and lay in the floor until he's asleep. Then he'll get use to his new room and if he wakes up and can go back to sleep without coming into our bedroom. Oh, and he's still wearing underwear at night, and one night this week he got up, came to our room, and said, "I have to pee pee, mommy." And he did, in the potty. That was pretty cool. Although that hasn't happened every night, I still think he's making good progress. He's only wet the bed 4 or 5 times since he's been wearing underwear, which has been a month and a half.

We are no longer using the musical potty (it's now a stool), we are using the "BiG PottY!"

Mason has been wearing his underwear a lot for the past week and a half. He's doing really good, with the exception of a few accidents. We've went out to eat, church, and just around town, while he's wearing his underwear. Sometimes I'll ask him if he has to go and he'll say, yes, and sometimes he'll tell us if he has to go potty. I've also gotten some pull-ups, so if we know we are going to spend a lot of time in town, he can still use the potty easy, but if he has an accident, it's okay. Potty training is a challenge, but we are trying to be consistent and not be to pushy. At daycare he has moved up another class, so we're not really pushing any potty training while he's there since he's getting use to two new teachers and new kids, even though he already knows some of them from being in his class previously. Hopefully, he'll catch at daycare too, but for now we'll work on potty training at home. Boy, would it be awesome if he could be completely trained by the time this baby gets here? Keep your fingers crossed!!

A New Bedtime Routine

Since Mason was born, I've rocked him to sleep every night. I know some people may frown upon this, but it was my special time with my baby boy. I've been meaning to start putting him in his bed and letting him go to sleep on his own for the past few months, but just didn't do it. Well, since there is a little one on the way, this pushed me to finally start letting Mason be a big boy. He goes to sleep on his own at daycare with no problem, so he's had some experience. The past 3 nights I've taken Mason to his room, lifted him up and put him in his bed. Of course he starts crying. It breaks my heart! I hand him his Mickey Mouse, he wraps his arm around him and falls to the mattress. I cover him up, while he continues to cry. I say, "I love you Mason!" and walk out of the room. I also plug up his fish lamp. He continues to cry for 3-5 minutes and then it's QUIET. I just hope we stick to it and it gets easier for him. I have missed holding him in my arms as he drifts off to sleepy land, but I know this will pay off as he gets older and when his little brother/sister gets here. Thanks for listening to me ramble.
